Hayley had a great day! Her dad brought her Subway (her choice) for lunch at school and a Happy Birthday balloon and a small cookie cake to make her day extra special. When I got home from work, we gave her our gifts.
Then we told the kids to get dressed because we were going to eat. We surprised Hayley with a family dinner at a Japanese Hibachi Grill. When we walked in she saw Gran, Papa, Mimi, Grandpoppy, Aunt Michelle, Viet, Athan & Tristan.
Coloring is always a favorite with these 2 little ones.
Hannah thought Grandpoppy could use a hat!
And look at my newest little nephew Tristan. Isn't he just the sweetest!
And in case you are wondering just what his shirt says...here you go. Such a smart kid already!
It was time to start the show. Holly took a seat next to her bestfriend.
We couldn't all fit at one table but we were right across from eachother and it worked.
The server asked Hayley to open her mouth...but she got scared.
So Daddy had to show her how it's done.
So she tried again...and nailed it!
Great food, great company. It was a great night for our birthday girl!

Happy Birthday Scott
I took him to one of our favorite restaurants nearby and then we went back to the house and had cake with the girls.
A lovely couple sitting across from our table offered to take this picture.
Time for cake!

A little get away...just the two of us
It's been a rough December and January. Scott has been out of town a lot and needless to say I have been unorganized, scattered, and a little cuckoo while he's been away. He always has Market in Dallas twice a year where he is gone for the week. He asked me if I'd like to join him for a little trip...just the two of us. Umm, yeah! So we lined up Mimi to come watch the kiddos and I flew out Saturday morning. Scott picked me up from the airport and we headed to lunch. It was gorgeous out so we opted for a table on the patio. You'll have to excuse the photo clarity, all the pics were taken on my iphone.
Then it was time to go to Market...whatever that meant. I've always heard the term but never understood what it was. I thought it was just another convention or show. Hubs hooked me up with a badge.
Holy Guacamole! 3 buildings and seven stories full of shopping....where have you been all my life?
Spent a few hours there...Scott mingled and I shopped but warning: I do not advise wearing shoes like this! Ouch!
Finally, I could take the pain no longer (I had to pull out a couple Toy Story bandaids for the blisters I acquired with those dang but oh so lovely shoes)! So we headed to check into the hotel and relax before going out that evening. This is the view out of our hotel window. Shh, don't tell the kids there was an ice skating rink in our hotel!
Has this man been gone so long that I have to re-train him? Come on!
So after an afternoon snooze, it was time to get dressed and hit the town.
We started off at a cool bar called Nobu for drinks and appetizers.
Then we headed to another cool place called Ocean City. The patio was really cool. It was a bit chilly but I'm a sucker for sitting outside by the fire.
And yet another bar called Adolfus.
The next morning we slept in (awesome), had a nice breakfast and then hit the road home. Of course, no road trip would be complete without stopping at our favorite store Bucees. If you have not been, you don't know what your missing!
It was a quick trip but there is nothing more important to us than getting to capture these times when we can. It helps us to re-connect without all the distractions. Thank you Scott for making this time for us. Love you!

Happy New Year!
Scott and I spent New Year's in Vegas and had an awesome time. We drank more than we should and ate more than we should but there was nothing better than ringing in the new year in the VooDoo Lounge on the 51st floor overlooking the entire strip and city.
Here's to a great 2011!
