A Girl and Her Book on a Sunny Afternoon

I saw a perfect spot on my way home today and it didn't take much persuading to get this girl to pose for me. We grabbed a couple of things to use for the pictures and I really love the results. Since Hayley started her own blog, she has been much more cooperative when it comes to letting her dear mom practice taking pictures. Take a look at some of the shots we got.

Hannah's birthday

Hannah turned 10 years old last Thursday. I can't believe it! Time sure does fly. We got her favorite chocolate iced donuts with sprinkles on top and sang Happy Birthday to her before she went to school. Then we took her to Main Event for her birthday dinner. I'm bummed I didn't get any pictures there but the kids had fun. Holly was in heaven running around all over the place with her big sisters. Luckily, there weren't many people there so we could all keep tabs on her. Then on Saturday we celebrated Hannah's birthday again with all her friends at Sweet & Sassy Salon. This is the cutest place. All the girls got pink robes when they got there. Then they got their hair fixed up with glitter, make-up, and they got pedicures and their nails painted. I think Hannah had a great birthday week!

She got her wish...red lipstick...and she sure didn't waste any time putting it on!

Some of her birthday goodies from us. Who doesn't want a purple wig? One of mine and Hayley's finds in the dollar bins at Target. And yes, that is beef jerky in her hands. I'm telling you this girl is so low key. Those are the kinds of things she asks for on her birthday.

Hanging On

Ever wake up and don't want to get out of bed? Me too! As a matter of fact, I've been feeling like this a lot lately. I could just lay in a dark room and sleep with the covers up over my head and let the day pass by. I feel overwhelmed, exhausted, alone, rushed for time, unorganized, scattered and bit of sadness. I know I have to get out of this doom and gloom that is hanging over me....but it's hard....but still I will try. This song speaks to me right now so I will continue to play it over and over and hopefull soon it will start to absorb in.

Hannah's bday invitations

They turned out so cute! If you need one, you can get a custom one made here.  Now I just got to get on the ball and start getting things organized for the party!  It should be fun!

Just what I needed

Scott left to go out of town this morning at 5:30am and left me to deal with 3 kids all alone. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if I were a stay at home mom and didn't have to leave for work at 6am, didn't have to get a grumpy 3 year old up early, make sure the kids have rides to school, didn't have Meet the Teacher night at school this week, picture day at school, didn't have to make sure choir money was turned in, folders signed, homework checked, lunches made each morning, a teddy bear picnic to get ready for at Holly's daycare, dinner cooked each night, and I could go on and on....

So when I checked the mail this evening and found this

And the inside says this

It put a smile on my face.  I put it in the kitchen as a reminder to smile the rest of the week.  Thanks Mimi, it was just what I needed!

Surfside Beach

We got up Saturday morning and decided to take the kids to the beach. It was a little cloudy but by the time we got there, the sun was shining and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! Hayley's friend Maddie went with us too. We packed up and stopped at the store on the way out, loaded up on snacks and ice to keep the drinks cold and we were off!

I've gone to the dark side

Well, only my hair color. It was time for a change and I really like it. The girls have told me that I'm no longer in the Blonde Club and they are a little sad but they like it too.
